Right out of the chute, you've got to know: this "book" is SHORT, Short, short. I've written Amazon reviews that are longer (which may say something about me!).

The print is really big (no need for a special "large-print" version), the margins are generous, and there are a number of blank pages. It's still barely big enough to be bound as a trade paperback, rather than a pamphlet. I didn't even bother reading it when it first arrived, being disappointed at this paltry effort by someone who has an energetic radio style, and is strong in public appearances.

So why not a 1 star review?

What there is here is really pretty good. It is a little too filtered and truncated, but there is the germ of a good book here. You do get a little insight into the lives of the ladies you see pushing drinks in the casinos. And, there is some real hard-earned wisdom dished out too.

Too bad Heidi Harris didn't keep this to herself and use it as the concept for a REAL book, using a ghost writer if necessary to translate her years of experience in one of life's tougher corners into something deeper and more revealing. There is a promised "sequel", which could, I suppose, be that book. If it fulfills the promise of this little "teaser", I hope this version won't prejudice the public against giving it a serious look.

Worth reading? Definitely yes, if you've got 20 minutes (tops). Worth the price? Not really - just too little here.

Disappointed. Thought it would be longer and more insightful. Pretty basic stuff.
This is a small book and a quick read. I didn't realize what a waitress had to go through in a Vegas casino.
Totally useless book.
A fun read , really interesting for a young woman to read, we shared this with our granddaughter a freshman in college.
A real fun read. Heidi has lots to share and she does it well.
Heidi Harris is a radio talk-show host and I like her wisdom on the radio. I had to get her book and though it's a quick-read, it's very insightful and I enjoyed reading about her experiences.
I love Heidi Harris' worldview, probably because it is similar in most respects to my own. I also admire her intelligence, common sense, straight talk, passion, humor, and, yes, wisdom. Her show always satisfies, offering way more than most other radio talk shows. (She's not bad looking, either, by the way.) I was sorely disappointed, therefore, after forking over ten bucks to receive a forty-nine page "book" (printed in extra-large font, at that), having assumed that Heidi would deliver as generously in print as she does over the airwaves. Sadly, my assumption proved incorrect. She should have written more--much more. She could have done so, too; by her own admission, she plans a sequel to "Cocktail Waitress Wisdom," so, obviously, she has more material on hand than she used in this paltry tome. Needless to say, I won't be buying any more of her books. However, I do plan to continue to listen to Heidi every day on the local radio station here in Las Vegas, NV. I doubt that I'll be able to think of her in quite the same way, though. She's still bold and sassy, intelligent and chatty, funny and fun, but, alas!, as a writer, she leaves a lot to be desired, despite her obvious talent. On her show, she's articulate and loquacious, but in "Cocktail Waitress Wisdom," she is taciturn, indeed. My recommendation? Don't buy her book. Listen to her on the radio, instead.
